Hi Frank, I'm glad you like

Hi Frank,

I'm glad you like it. The Vertibrae are made from gears I found at a junk yard. The ribs are flat stock I shaped. The hips are steering knuckles off a Ford Bronco. The skull started as two differential covers. Most of the pieces were just found at the junkyard.

YOU ROCK!!!

OMG!!!! This is GREAT!!!! I love it! Jacob, this is AMAZING! You've captured the features of the skeleton really well...not to mention, I personally love skeletons-I think their symbolism is greatly misunderstood...

You must be proud of it, and I gather the university will be as well! Tell us more about what you've used to create this master piece...Awesome!

Cheers!!!

Thanks Jamie. I am pretty

Thanks Jamie. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. The University absolutely loves it. The different departments are still fighting over where its going to be displayed.

As for the the symbolism of the skeleton, I have to agree. One of the intentions of the piece was to try and contradict the idea that skeletons have a sinister character. I don't know how successful I was in that respect.

I think you did an amazing

I think you did an amazing job! I'm totally with you on the symbolism. This contradiction is a masterpiece.

I'm soooooooo glad the departments are fighting over where it should be displayed. That's shows their appreciation for great art, and a movement towards light, which you have conveyed through this "sinister character," so to speak. I LOVE IT!!!

Like I said before-YOU ROCK!!!

Cheers!

Ribs

Hi Jacob,
Pretty cool skeleton. I like the way you used a lot of the found objects as they existed. Only thing that kind of draws it away from found metal is the ribs. Too bad you had to shape some metal for them. Always kind of difficult to find all of the objects.
