Sculpture Gallery Knocked this out today. The cross is mild steel, with a bronze brazed sun, seated in a granite rock that I found on the California/Arizona border. Gonna give it to my mom for Christmas. J.R. Beautiful Cross JR

Matt, Not sure if you intended, but interestingly, you and I are involved in a bit of semantics, or a play on words. I titled the piece "Sun on the Cross," in your reply you said "Son on the Cross." I was originally going to make an actual crucifixion, complete with Jesus' figure. But, according to my mother (I don't have a sentiment either way), the "Son" is not on the cross any more, because he has risen and ascended. The sun cross, is one of the oldest and most universal religious symbols and a popular neopagan solar symbol. It is also known as the suncross, solar cross, sun wheel, sun disc. As an example, in neopaganism the term sun cross could be used for the Celtic cross. Or as Gene points out "Ra" is the ancient Egyptian sun god. And as Frank said, I did mix icons; he further said "...after all they did move the Sabbath to SUNday." Thanks Gene & Frank! Thanks for your reply... especially because it allowed me to point out that I took all of the above into consideration before I started. And as always, thanks for your kind words, J.R. » reply Great piece! I like the

Great piece! I like the textures and all of the thought that led up to the final composition. It obviously pays off. I really like the style you have developed. It creates pieces with a lot of character, depth, and texture. Jake » reply Thanks Jake, I'm going to do
