Vampire Bat

Vampire Bat

I just completed (except for the finish) my vampire bat. Going to deliver it to the client "Bat Automotive" on Monday, where they will give it a clear coat (they are an auto body & paint shop) Sorry for the not-so-good photo... I'll try to get better pix later.

Bill, Thanks for the thumbs

Bill,

Thanks for the thumbs up! I'm very happy (as I'm sure the client will be) about the way it came out. I was telling Rich that his bench inspired me to take my metal art to the next level; so too, your "House Jewelry" has inpired me to do as much!

Thanks again, J.R.

That looks really good,

That looks really good, J.R.!

You evidently have the ability to master the metal, so now run with it for all you're worth. Start pulling ideas out of your hat, (or other part of your anatomy; mine come from and area well below my hat), and try them out.

Sometimes, I like to try stuff in that little kids' modeling clay (plasticine, I think its called), befoe I start mashing metal. You can forge it right there on your desktop, using your fingers and a few kitchen implements. (grin)

Keep on showing us what you're doing.

Rich

Completed bat !!!!

JR,

You're bat came out amazing! I can't believe you have been welding for such a short time. What type of art work/ work were you doing before taking up metalworking? I posted one of my railings on the Yak Gallery ( perhaps the wrong place) check it out. I hope to put up some more work soon. I getting ready for a show in NYC in May and going crazy with press release, postcards etc., not to mention getting the work done. Well congradulations on success!

Janet, Prior to 4 months

Janet,

Prior to 4 months ago, I have been a full time police officer. I left the force after 14 years and took up metal art as a hobby. I don't have any art background, except for some very nice auto accident scene illustrations. My love for metal actually dates back much further. It began with my childhood love for motorcycles. After watching the various "chopper" shows on TV, and watching them shape and transform metal into rolling art, I began developing a passion for the medium. I was lucky enough to come across artmetal.com, where I have picked up the majority of my education and insights. Your railings, as an example, are so awesome, which both inspire and illuminate me.

Thank you so very much for your compliments and encouragement!

J.R.

Your one of us now !

JR,

Well, I"m truely impressed. With no prior art background you are a natural. Congradulations on your completed bat. Looks great on the wall. Your friend/client
looks quite happy and that's what it's all about. Even when I don't make too much money ( called underpricing) I'm still proud of my accomplishments. Once and awhile I get to see some furniture I've made for clients years ago and I'm still amazed that I actually made that piece. It"s a good feeling! Looking forward to seeing you progress.
