Stitching

Ellis,
Very interesting piece. I liked the way you welded what looks like stitches to hold the pieces together.........gives it a morphed look.

The wheel is called a bull

The wheel is called a bull wheel. It came off a horse-drawn binder or REAPER. There's the start. The body skeleton is slices of pipe and rods heated and bent to shape useing a torch. I cut the old sheet metal with plasma cutter, heated with torch, and beat into shape for skin. Shield is from a fan base, saw blades and car bumper. The chain came of a old planter and the fender for wheel is sweeps off old equip. Wings are rebar and screen and guards off a old sickle. The head was built separately on the welding table ,then installed last.

That's pretty wild Ellis!

That's pretty wild Ellis! When I look at this piece I get a sense of where we are today with the war in Iraq and the momentum we have with controlling the world by imposing our belief systems onto everyone and everything else.

I'm sure this is not your intent. However, the nice thing about art is our own personal interpretation of what the artist is saying.

Thank you for sharing your art and welcome to ArtMetal!

Mele, have you tried

Mele, have you tried clicking on the "original" version of the image? He has uploaded some good size images that can show you a considerable amount of detail if you look at the original upload.

This is so inventive! I love it. I think I like the arrow through the shield the best, but the whole thing is really cool.

Close Up

Hi Ellis,
I failed to comment earlier because I couldn't see your work up close. However after QuiQue's comment on the original, I can appreciate what you've done. Its a wonderful work of art! What kind of music accompanied your efforts? I hear Bach just over a tractor's agricultural throb, while thick black smoke rises to a looming cloud of doom. We reap what we sow.

The Judgment

Hi There Ellis,
In Australia we would say mate..mate what have you done, it is so good. Myself beening a lover of found metal objects you have lifted the bar to new hieghts. When I first layed eyes on it I felt like I was beening judged very scary and well engineered. One question will it fall over if you remove the angle iron under the wheel ?
Cheers Michael.
