Rise

Rise

This winged woman with her angelic presence is floating upwards, rising to meet the potential that lies within. While her open heart exposes her vulnerability and the chink on her lower body hints at imperfection, these marks of humanness provide a roadmap to a life of complete fulfillment.

My wife, Jennifer Corio, and I finished this piece up last week and it is now on display in Moses Lake Washington's Sculpture Without Walls exhibit.

More views please.

Hi Dave,
This is an interesting sculpture.I'm glad you show a few views, but it seems that to really enjoy this piece, one would have to see it in person.Red is my favorite color, but for me, seems too strong for an angel. I think the setting makes me feel this way.I'm not trying to be critical, good art does this to me.I hope you show us a picture of your angel at the exhibition.

Human vs. Angel

Hi Frank,

Thank you for the comments. All are appreciated. Although Rise has that angelic look, Jennifer's intention is to convey rising to one’s potential and fulfilling one’s destiny. Very human endeavors. The color red was chosen to enhance the meaning. Red like passion. Red like the flow of blood. You can’t fulfill one's potential without quite a bit of fire and passion.

The sculpture is truely best enjoyed in person but I will pull together a couple more views.

Hi Dave, They say if you get

Hi Dave,
They say if you get opossing as well agreeing comments about your art, then there`s expression! How we perceive the message you`re trying to convey is another matter. Your sculpture is well executed and the concept is there too. I agree with you, and Frank too, about the meaning of that color, and from another stand, energy, or charma related if you wish, red is earth, repreesnts the fisic body and it`s corresponding chachra has that color. So since the concept figure is still down here, and has not rissen to higher levels, the red is it!, but if it evolving into higher levels, then either a color gradiation from red to white, might be more appropiate... at what level is your sculpture concept? at the level you wish to put it. well done. Nelson.

Thanks

Thank you Chuck for the wonderful complement. This is one of our favorite pieces and hope the next one will compare. We have a commission to enlarge Jennifer's 18" tall sculpture named "Despite the Rain" to pedestrian scale (7-8'). It's an abstract of a woman holding an umbrella while liftering her dress to step through a puddle. Definately Northwest inspired.
