Thanks so much!! They are about two feet? I need to decide how to display them, maybe in a pot. It is fairly top heavy so the mount needs to be heavier. » reply sealing

Thanks for both of your responses! So, I'm new to this. What kind of clear coat. You indicate painted not sprayed? Where can I get it or do you have a brand name. The piece is mild steel. It is actually scrap sheet metal that came with a powder coat paint finish on it that I had to grind off. That's what made the texture. So the finish is not completely virgin. How would I clean it before treating? Yes it is an indoor piece. All of my other stuff has been outside stuff. » reply Mele, Clean the piece by

Mele, Clean the piece by washing it with lacquer thinner and then drying thoroughly. After that, I suggest a couple of coats of Permalac sprayed on as per the manufacturer's recommendations. You can Google Permalac to find a supplier near you. » reply |
