Thanks so much!! They are about two feet? I need to decide how to display them, maybe in a pot. It is fairly top heavy so the mount needs to be heavier.

Thanks for both of your responses! So, I'm new to this. What kind of clear coat. You indicate painted not sprayed? Where can I get it or do you have a brand name. The piece is mild steel. It is actually scrap sheet metal that came with a powder coat paint finish on it that I had to grind off. That's what made the texture. So the finish is not completely virgin. How would I clean it before treating? Yes it is an indoor piece. All of my other stuff has been outside stuff.

Clean the piece by washing it with lacquer thinner and then drying thoroughly. After that, I suggest a couple of coats of Permalac sprayed on as per the manufacturer's recommendations. You can Google Permalac to find a supplier near you.
