Shop thread

Per Kevin's suggestion- here is a picture of my shop (second picture to follow). This is looking from the wood shop into the blacksmith shop. Total shop area is 22 x 80 (I took over the basement and added an extension to the house). I work at home. I would be interested in hearing other folk's ideas/experiences about working where they live vs. traveling to their shop.

Hi Rob, great looking shop.

Hi Rob, great looking shop. It's so clean! 20'x 80' is a good sized shop at home. Do yo live on an acreage? My shop is at home as well, mainly because it was cheaper for me to build a garage than rent a shop. After working for a few years I think I have to work at home. It sometimes gets a little frustrating being at "home" for work all day and then walking 80 feet to come home from work, but I can be a bit of a workaholic so it helps to be closer. This way I can pop into the house every so often throughout the day and touch base with Casey.

Hi Jake- The reason my shop

Hi Jake- The reason my shop is so clean is because I am between projects. It is quite a bit different when I am in the midst of something! I do live on a large farm (about 700 acres- unfortunately I don't own all that...).
It is interesting to hear your thoughts about working at home. I love the fact that I don't have to drive on a regular basis. I do miss the social interaction with people, but interacting regularly with the dogs is just wonderful! I work alone, so I am by myself most days. I am going from a structured day in my former life to entirely my own schedule. This change was much easier for me than I thought, given how much I am enjoying the learning curve.

Rob that`s a neat shop you

Rob that`s a neat shop you got! If you saw mine I`m sure you`d flip over. For now it`s made out of two tables, tools hung up on a multipurpose rig, no walls... what? Yes,it`s under some big trees and by my house. I`m a farm guy too.Nothing like being close to nature. It`s inspirational.Animals are wonderfull, and more greatfull than we people. Working near home is a joy for the most part. I`ll post a pic of my shop, and get ready to crack up.
Nelson.
