It's really nice Rich! I made an iron bound tool tote for my wife's antique tools last Christmas and have also watched the semi-famous BAM boxes being constructed... without some experience as a frame of reference it is pretty difficult to appreciate the time and effort required to create something like this. That box represents quite an achievement!! It'll be hard to fill it with stuff that is worth as much as the box. ![]() Well, that "treasure chest"

Well, that "treasure chest" is really the engine cover in an ersatz pirate ship a wealthy guy had made as a playhouse for his two pre-teen daughters - also a floating party vessel. I had little to do with the woodworking aspect, other than trying to do some faux finishing to make it less obvious that whoever built it ran the grain of the wood the wrong direction. My contribution was the bronze hardware, which was a fun challenge as the thing has to actually open for access to the engine. It was a fun job, though a bit nerve-wracking since I had to work form customer-supplied dimensions and then travel by seaplane to do the final installation. Sure enough, a couple of critical dimensions were wrong and I had to make "adjustments" on-site. Fun and games. Thanks for the compliments! Rich |
