I really like these designs.

I really like these designs. How do you attach the glass to the metal? What kind of show are you doing?

TY Paula Mele, the bowls

TY Paula

Mele, the bowls just sit on top of 3 fronds, which makes them easy to level.

The flowers are a little trickier. I was hammering out steel cups that fitted over discs of glass fused to the backs of the flowers, but the fit was never that great and it took a lot of silicone to fill the space. With this latest generation I dipped the backs of the flowers in wax and then cast the resulting "caps" in bronze. These fit perfectly over the back of the flowers and are easily glued in place. The larger single flower weighs over 6 lbs and is 20" across. It has anchored really well so I will probably keep using that technique.

The show is just a 3-day wildflower exhibition that wanted some artwork to add to their display. They usually do a great job of displaying my work and are happy to collect money and pass out my business cards. Its a mutually beneficial arrangement as the sculptures and flowers look great together.

Sorry to pick your brain,

Sorry to pick your brain, but more questions. It looks like you have something that looks like rebar in the fronds also. Is it? Can we get a close up of the critter and some of what you have in the back ground? They look like fun critters also. The show sounds like fun and a great idea.
Thanks, Mele
