Hi Janet I'll see if I can wrangle a better pioc of the bird bath. It is quite likely you did have too much red wine, but yes that is a dragonfly at the base. I was attempting to create a pond-life scene. Thanks all for the positive comments on "splash". I made it over a year ago and it didnt sell in 2 shows I put it in, which disheartened me somewhat. I am encouraged to dust it off, put it in a gallery and see what happens. Peter » reply Peter, I like this one, too.

Peter, I like this one, too. I like all of them, actually. Nice work, indeed! If you want to look at some really cool pictures of splashes, check out my brother Martin's web site. He does really incredible high-speed pohotgraphy of water drops and their splashes. http://www.liquidsculpture.com » reply ![]() RICH, Your brothers photos

Bill, Yeah, he does some really incredible stuff, doesn't he? With only one or two exceptions, none of it is Photoshopped, either. He's worked out all these sophisticated computer controls to handle thellighting, the shutter, the water drops, etc. His setup looks like someting Rube goldberg woould be proud of, but boy does it work well! If Martin would package his setup commercially, he could sell it as an expensive adult toy, as long as it carried a warning that it is highly addictive. (grin) I've spent many nights at his house, playing with his camera setup, doing one shot after another until the wee hours of the night, fiddling with the timing, the sequencing, etc, trying out different effects. He's gotten the thing so well controlled that even I, a complete novice at photography, can get somewhat predictable results. It's a good thing I don't have something like that at my house, or I'd never get any work done. I think it's really great that he has gotten quite a bit of worldwide recognition for his work and is now getting some good commissions out of it. He's been working at it for a good ten years now. The results are certainly worth the effort. Glad you enjoyed seeing his stuff. » reply ![]() enjoyed it......is an

WOW Rich! Those photo's are fantastic.......makes me want to do a whole series of "splash" sculptures on a really large scale....hmmmm...just need some organisation to fund it. Some of those photo's re-created in 3D, 5 metres across...would be something really special. Peter » reply Peter, you did a wonderful

Peter, you did a wonderful job reproducing the water droplet rings. It is one of my favorites among the photos you recently uploaded. Rich, thanks for sharing your brothers fabulous photography. It was a pleasure looking at how nature creates art with every drop of water. Let's see, why do we create art? We are certainly no match with the Creator. Are we? » reply |

Welcome Peter
Hi Peter...
I think we all agree that Splash is an amazing piece, totally different. I also love Autumn Woman. I'd like to see a better picture of the bird bath ,is there a dragonfly hidden at the bottom or did I have too much red wine tonight? It's not how long you have been working at it , it's the heart and spirit you put into your pieces. Janet R.
