Paula, Great chair, very warm and inviting. A perfect sunset chair. Is this one of few or the only. I live in an area of breathtaking sunsets, so growing up I have spent a lot of time watching the sun settle from a chair. Wouldn't mind watching one in yours. Always aspiring to make the perfect chair. Is your back and base steel. I have always gone around in circles about what material to use for that part. My steel roots always snicker at me when I consider wood or leather. "KEEP ROCK'N" CW » reply Steel

This is the only one that i've made. The seat and backrest are sheet metal...it is comfy, i've sat in it long enough contemplating my next move while making it... but after it was all said and done, i would either make a cushion for the seat, or use wood.... once a person makes something, they see all the solutions... 'if i'd have known then....' » reply What a great chair

Paula, thanks for posting the picture of your chair. Is this chair for you or did you make it on speculation? The pipe makes it a whole bunch easier to move around. Steve » reply Paula, I just looked at you

Paula, I just looked at you chair again. Do you know anyone who is good with leather. Nice leather wrapped steel with slim foam for slight cushioning would flow well with the organic feel of you chair. Just a spontaneous thought, I have a lot of those, my wife thinks that I am boarder line looney because of them. CW » reply Texture

I think this chair is so cool, but I'd like to see the texture of the legs especially the feet up close. "GRIZZ" » reply a little look

I was just admiring your work again. The details are wonderful especially all of the texture. I'm not sure if I asked this the first time, but are the leaves colored with heat or patina? What about the slight reddish color on the branches? The little bits of color really make for a nice contrast. Again, very well done. Jake » reply thanks again

Thanks again Jake. The color on the leaves are permanent marker as well as the red on the 'branch' part of it. I did heat color them first, but don't like how the color is dulled by clear coats. (So i 'embellish the color a bit) Once the markers are sealed under a clear coat... the color becomes a part of the work...inexpensive but effective. :) » reply Paula- Everytime I see

I REALLY appreciate your "wow". To tell you, i'm really often surprised by your and other peoples reaction to my work. when i see what amazing work others have done; I often think, 'who am i kidding....' or, 'why didn't i think of that?!' so, the surprise and delight in the reactions is what keeps me going... most artist i think feel some what like this...don't they? » reply |
