This is right up my alley!!

This is right up my alley!! I like the design, the colors, the materials... everything. The only improvement I could suggest would be to put it in my yard, I don't care what it says.
It is a much, much better interpretation of I did for Fathers Day for my dad.

Hi Paula,
It`s a very vivacious sign. Reminds me of a Carnival Parade, well probably that comes to mind since I`m working on a parade design. Love the copper detail with the forged steel. Sorry if I`m missing something Paula, but is it for a private house? It`d make a great sign for a restaurant too, for a winery... for anything! Nelson.

Thanks Nelson, i can see

Holy cow Paula, I really

Holy cow Paula, I really like this. It reminds of art nouveau and Victor Horta. The changing widths on the flowing lines adds so much, but the icing on the cake has to be the textured and heat colored copper. Is it riveted in place or just sandwiched between the steel? Did you apply the heat coloring before or after the copper was put in place. I want this for my house.

Really great work

Great

Paula, very nice sign. The flow of both sides flow so evenly to each other. The top sections with the copper have an eyebrow feel of opened eyes welcoming you.

Blush Blush thanks

Blush Blush thanks Jake.....You picked up on the art nouveau and Horta thumbs upthumbs up Obviously a fan of both...
Wish i had thought of the riveting, man that would have really dressed it up...one more thing to add to my list of things to remember. Cross-pein the copper and then brazed it to the ribs on the back side. then covered the brazing with steel ribs on the back side. It took some time to fit the copper to the curve of the post. I didn't want any 'daylight' between the steel and the copper. then wire wheel brush to a semi shine and use the torch to heat color...
The new owners were really happy.

Balanced

Hi Paula,
I looked at all the images and enjoyed the detail you have incorporated in this piece; excellent craftsmanship and use of two mediums.
The finished sign from a little distance reveals your real talent. The lines flow so gracefully with varied thickness and the spaces are filled with a pleasing balance.
Thanks for sharing,Paula.
Sorry about the late comment,I was on the roof removing snow and ice most of the day(good work out).

. AMAZING
For me it look like those steel rods grew up from that plate and gracefully searching a place to go and attach themselves here and there to finally give those nice flowing curves .
Nice mix with the copper .

Yes, i use oxy-acetylene

Yes, i use oxy-acetylene torch to braze the two metals together. I heat the thicker/larger pieces before heating the copper to add the braze. Still need to improve my skills on brazing, not always so pretty, but it sticks and i know the copper won't fall off. Practice makes perfect...
