This is one of my first attempts at repousse. I have a small set of chasing tools, more for jewelers. Next paycheck, I'll get a larger set. I would appreciate any critiques as I am totally learning this by myself.

I'm not a reposse person but

I'm not a reposse person but I like this piece very much. It seems pretty hard for a first piece and I think you did a great job. I also like the color, keep posting your progress.

CHISEL

HI Lorrie, i'm a chiseller and i think you have a very good style ..but very small set of chisels....then , where the work appears more or less in relief in consequence of endured working, the word CHISEL is associated to that one of EMBOSSMENT. The technical difference between embossment and chisel is that, for the first one, the relief is obtained on the opposite face of the leaf, so operating in negative, while the chisel models the metal leaf in positive. Anyway EMBOSSEMNT and CHISEL are always complementary, even if there can be works totally embossed or totally chiselled. Anyway my compliments for your first repousse..

This is quite a good start.

This is quite a good start. Very ambitious. I would suggest that you try something simpler. It should be something that you really like. If you used 18g or heavier I would say try 20g or lighter. I love repousse too. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Claudia

Thanks Claudia

It's funny-I look back at some of the sh.... I've posted and just want to hit the undo button. I actually need to start working with heavier gauge metal, that was probably about 26 gauge.

Hey Lorrie, Don't be so hard

Hey Lorrie,
Don't be so hard on yourself...I give lot's of credit for trying out these techniques. I think you did pretty well considering you were working with jewelers tools. Keep at it! You've got the eye for it!
