I think that your chasing is going very well but that it would show better with smoother surrounding metal. The texture keeps leading my eye away from the detailed chasing. Then again, it could be my monitor.

Thanks for the comments. Did you mean leaving off the "dents" surrounding the chasing. I hope I am not plastering these pictures all over the place. Still learning how to post properly.

I agree with Marilyn, you don't want the background to distract from the main event. If you really feel the need for texture back there try something subtle. Also give it one last pickle, brass brush it then if you want apply a patina. The blotchy firescale makes it a little hard to see what's going on. I like the design quite a bit. Claudia
