wall art | Other Metal Gallery This piece is my first attempt at hand forming. The face has gold leaf and the rest is some type of metal or wire (copper or steel). There is a piece of plexiglas for depth. This piece is going to be submitted for the Epilepsy Foundation's Brainstorm Art Collection 2007. If anyone wants to know more go to www.efmn.org Hope you like. Laurie O Texturing

Beautiful work there, Laurie. How did you get the fine texturing on the half of the copper? Was that done before the major shaping of that side? Or, am I not really seeing copper? Please explain some of your techniques used here. Thank you, » reply re: texturing

Thank you Rick, Looking at the picture from right to left, the copper is plain old roofing copper attached to fine mesh copper, attached to a larger copper mesh, the detail in the left side is after "krinkling" the mesh I used a copper oxide paste to bring out the valleys of the folds in the mesh. Nice work Lori. Are u planning on making more art pieces? It would be great to see more. I'm curious. The meaning you have placed on this piece.... what does it mean to you? Does it have to do with Epilepsy? Just curious.... Oh, by the way, ~hey neighbor~ :) Paula » reply Laurie O Anoka Thanks Paula,

Laurie O Thanks Paula, yes I do hope to do more but I am trying to get through school right now. I love doing mixed media. And hope to do more nature themed sculptures. I also have a veterans sculpture in mind (my husband is currently in the Guard). This one is titled "the two halves of me" and I tried to show how I feel before and during a seizure with this sculpture. I will find out May 1 where my sculpture will be exhibited and it should also be posted on the MN Epilepsy Foundation website. » reply Interesting How big is it??

Kudos to your first metal
Kudos to your first metal art! Very nicely done. I like the color combinations and the gold leaf mask. Very nice Laurie!
