Hey Gene,

I have made lots of chasing/repousse tools now but I seem to have trouble with making texturing tools. I always seem to get high and low spots so that the texture doesn't look like a smooth texture like the one in your pic. How do did you create the texture on the tool?

took annealed stock,
ground to a very slight dome
then went after the end with a sharp punch for the one on your left,
The other one, I had been given a box of weird exacto blades that didn't fit any of my holders. They pack them glued together with lacquer or something in a stack. I put 3/16 inch of that in the vice and drove the annealed stock into it to see what happened. Worked, Kind of hard on the blades though.

I would suggest using the still sharp corner of an old worn out file to drive it into.

of course all the interesting ones are yet to be found.

after forming the texture, I hardened and tempered the ends.
