Other Metal Gallery This is a view of the structure that keeps snow off Rosie, my tractor. This is covered with cheapo blue tarps, and can withstand any amount of snow Lake Superior bestows. The structure utilizes the "Octet-truss" system. Bucky Fuller gave mankind this architectural system. A. G. Bell gave mankind the same system a few years earlier. Both men wore many scientific hats, both were true humanitarians too.Traditionally Fuller is given credit. The "octet truss" is basically the combination of two Platonic solids with their edges expressed as struts. The two solids are the octahedron (eight faces), and the tetrahedron(four faces).Plato actually was responsible for inspiring his students to develop the concept of the "Platonic Solids", so credit is given to him by use of his name. ![]() Isometric yadda yadda

If this thread gets any deeper, I will need taller boots. My tractor is perfectly happy in an old fashioned pole barn. It is simple and effective. Don ![]() I was trying to joke and not

I was trying to joke and not be negative. To bad all your framework is covered by tarps. I would think Rosie would like a nice copper roof or whatever your artistist skills can dream up. It looks like you spent a lot of time creating your roof system. It looks great. Don ![]() Thanks

And all based on the cubic crystal system. Same system diamonds crystalize in. If my memory serves me right? Love the low tech solution to construction. There are several internet available tarp clamping devices. I used some 3/4 pvc with about a 3/8 pc dadoed from them. The c shaped pvc pcs fold over the tarp and conduit. The longer they are the better they work. I'm jealous now. I wish I had a tractor.
As to the curious onlookers, next time just talk to your shirtsleeve and say "beam me up Scotty" Brad
