Ginko Platter

Ginko Platter

I was invited to a little get-together in Illinois with a group of blacksmiths after my first workshop. My goal was to learn a little about sinking and raising copper to make small vessels. This was my project for the weekend. I owe a big Thank You to Roger Lorance and his wife for the wonderful hospitality and an equally wonderful time!

Thank You Janet! I've been

Thank You Janet! I've been waiting quite a while to learn about working with copper. I've lurked on many sites for a long time seeing all the different things you and others do with metal so by the time I attended my first workshop I had a little idea of the processes. Being a stay at home dad gives me some added time on the internet now that my son is almost four. I just need to come up with some money for some tools and I'll be all set! That tax check can't come in quick enough!! :^)

Hi Eric, welcome to

Hi Eric, welcome to Artmetal. Your first couple of pieces at working copper look great. They certainly don't look like that of a beginner. Nice work, I look forward to seeing more.

Ginko Platter

Hi EAustin,

I really like your ginko platter. What are the dimensions?

Peggy

BJ, Jake, Adrian, Peggy..Thank You!

Peggy,
The platter is 12x12 inches, made out of 16 gauge copper. I worked the leaves over carpet to get the relief, and sunk the center over an old rotor.
I appreciate everyones comments a lot. Being a newbie... seeing the compliments lets me know I'm at least on the right path.
