Steel?

mele,
Yeah when I first looked it I thought copper and patina by a wash of muratic acid to get the purple tint, but steel hmmm nice color. Nice shape of flower, one thing though that you may try is put a little shaping in the petals so they do not look too flat.

Hi Mele: Nice looking

Hi Mele:
Nice looking flower, the color of it made me think it was copper. How do you get that nice color, and what finish for rust protection outdoors? Thanks. Nelson.

Nelson, I heat the petals to

Nelson,
I heat the petals to bend them so they take the patina differently than if you didn't. I clean them and use Insta-rust. It turn the metal a nice pink when you first put it on. Then I seal it after it dries but before it rusts. The sealer turns it a kind of dark copper color. I did let the leaves rust before I sealed them. When you put the sealer over the Insta-rust it always reacts differently and you never know exactly what color it will be.
Thanks, Mele

So pretty, the natural formation of rust is the only color the makes this type of art pop. I was thinking of naming my second son Erosion, kinda matches with my name Emmanuel

a pretty flower for you Mele
