Hi Nathan, I was beginning to wonder if you were still out there. I like your new piece, especially the paint. I'm usually not a big fan of painted metalwork, but these colors explode off the rusting girder and the Verde Gris patina almost looks like a waterfall from this angle. Was there a significance of the one banner painted like the sky and the other fire(sunset?)? Looks to be about 8' or so? What is the event? Jake » reply Thanks for the kind words

Thanks for the kind words Jake. Yeah- this is a little outside the box for me. I needed to do something for this event that would just jump. The piece is titled "the state we're in". It represents Louisiana thru the oil industry with the black base and the somewhat dirk looking girdiron. The banners represent heat and passion- people here are very into being passionate about all things Louisiana and the bluish banner refers to the gulf of Mexico and what is called the dead zone where salt and fresh water mix. Don't know if I'll do more work in this vein, but I did enjoy getting out of my comfort zone. » reply |
