This is the story behind the wedding pic - which I just put up as a test while I was running through instructions on setting up a blog or image for Marilyn, but since you asked...

We were legally married in 2001 in the magistrate's office, Murphy NC, Â and wanted to also do something personal and relevant to us to mark the day so....

Â we made up our own ceremony, we exchanged vows & wedding bands in our friend's private blacksmithing museum

and then used hisÂ smithy to do a ceremonial forging.Â

Together we made a 5" steel ringÂ to link two other rings that we had made separately before 'the big day'

we alternated heats to shape the ring and then did alternate blows for the actual forge weld.

I could not have wished forÂ a more meaningful orÂ fun weddingÂ ceremony.Â It was a fabulous day!Â
