How was this Finish made?

When I first saw this I thought it was a hammered finish but after looking at it closer it looks like it was done with an acid etch? Any thoughts? ![]() Thanks Bill that grinding

Thanks Bill that grinding idea is something I had not considered. Not something I think I would want to do either.LOL. I suppose the easiest way is to feed it thru the power hammer with some sort of textured spring swage tool. I was hoping there was a chemical way to get this finish by using muriatic and a stipling of pine tar? |

looked like hammer texture to me too...... but could be "ground down" weld AND hammer texture.Or might be textured hot with a top tool of very heavily textured material, then ground down.No matter what the texturing process it was softened by surface grinding afterwards.
But the more I look at it.......and seeing the dark LOW areas which seem to be at the same level.........makes me lean towards the "ground weld bead".
