This little critter I made by building up material over an armature with my wire feed welder (MIG) running stainless wire. I used to have running debates with my old man because his technique was to use the oxyacetylene torch and melt welding rods to accomplish the same thing. I prefer the wire feed because you can deposit allot of material (metal) really fast. If you make a mistake or put too much down too soon,you can always use a grinder to remove the excess. After allot of practice you can get pretty good at free handing little figures and critters. I love the way the surface gets polished but still retains that kind of molten quicksilver look...
