I love the look of this piece! do you get the folded look by moving the metal when its hot? (that might be a stupid question- sorry i'm kinda new to metalsmithing)

sorry it took me so long to

sorry it took me so long to get back, i havent been on in a while. to answer your question, i heat and quench my piece, fold it, put it in a vice leaving a pillow of sorts, then i just start hammering away. i then take out, reheat and quench then unfold. i do this process as many times as it takes to get the texture i like.

I really love this piece! When I saw the picture it really grabbed me, and I'm not sure why (I think that's the best reaction for people to have, don't you think? Kind of adds to the mistery of the work.) Very organic and the patina is perfect with the design.

thank you so much, its always nice to get compliments from fellow artisans. im really enjoying fold forming and im big on organic fluid lines. i havent done anything in a bit, im 3 months pregnant living in florida and my workshop is just to damn hot for a preggy right now, so im hopeing to move my part of our workshop in the house where it is a little cooler so i can get some stuff done, i know, whaaa!anyway, thanks again
