Jewelry | Knife-makers Jewelry Gallery | anodized | earrings | formed | hammered metal | jewelry | niobium | textured ![]() Hello all. My primary art is custom knives, although I have 35 years of silversmithing experience. The last several months I've taken a sabbatical into Niobium, Titanium, and anodizing. It's something I've wanted to get into for a long time, and I am having a blast with it. So, time to post some pieces. "Moonwalk" Niobium, earrings, formed and hammered, 1-1/4" tall. Comments welcomed. ![]() Thanks!

Hey Janet. Well, from doing the silver for those many years, I have a pro casting setup, tons of tools, the works. A long time ago I realized I could never compete against the imports, so gave up the dream of being a professional silversmith. Started making custom knives just because I love knives, and incorporating a lot of the jewelry skills and tech in those, and hey, I can sell them, readily and for enough $ to make it worth my while. But I'm still something of a jeweler at heart. I've wanted to jump into the reactives and anodizing for a long time, maybe even decades. And finally did. So, yes, it's fulfilling a long held dream, the jewelry skills are old hat for me, and it is a freaking BLAST. I've been using the opportunity to make a bunch of tools, experiment with foldforming, and on and on. It's like the 'Tater chips folks say; "Buy all you want, we'll make more". Did I mention that you get a price break on multiple items? LOL! |
