Flame Patina Dragon

This pendant is made of pierced copper layered over flame patinated copper & attached with silver rivets to a hammered silver base. The hanger is silver tubing 'stitched' with silver wire onto the silver base. The silver chain is purchased.

Interesting Details

Hi Peggy,
There's lots of interesting details in your pendant. It looks masculine to me, but I bet it would look great on anyone. Nice.

Yes, this is an excellent

Yes, this is an excellent job of piercing which I know is tedious to do. I am concerned about the beutiful red. I hope that you waxed or sealed it in some way. In my experience, these flame patinas keep changing until they are a dark brown.

Flame Patina Dragon

Hi Marilyn,

Thank you for the compliments! This is the first flame patina I've ever done & didn't realize that the color could change. I did seal it with Johnson's paste wax - I hope this is sufficient.

Flame Patina Dragon

Hi Frank,

Thank you for your kind words. It looks kind of masculine to me too. I agree that probably anyone could wear this.

stability

I'd like to know how stable the color is. I've not thought to layer a piercing over a patina'd copper but your result is lovely.

I have a question. Why do you have rings around the tube?

Flame Patina

Hi Susan,

Thank you! I'm not sure how stable the color is as this is my first flame patina. I've sealed it with wax & hope for the best (so far, so good). Those aren't rings but rather a single length of sterling silver wire that I used to 'stitch' the pendant to the hanger or 'tube'.
