ARS TOREUTICA: A BRIDGE BETWEEN SPIRIT AND MATERIAL

The engraving of the "Half Chisel" is done according to a relief moulding as to the object’s level, without metal removal, but only for the shift of its parts. So an artistic work called half chisel is obtained and it is really used and appreciated until 1930. The working is executed with special tools made by the chisellers themselves; these tools, in fact, must have the double purpose to engrave and to enable the raising and the moulding of the metal. Cutting chisels and chisels with rounded edge are used; the shape of the part destined to penetrate and to raise is also moulded in an opportune way, according to the purpose to reach. The half chisel is applied especially on rings and bracelets.

Ansuz,
I'm a bit confused...

So this pattern is NOT done to the sheet when it is flat?
and then rolled into the bracelet form?

Sorry Stephen for late reply but I lost the pass...

Yes you are right!!
bracelets are made-barrel full of gold-copper
worked full-on metal
then the copper is removed with acid...
