Crystal's Crop Circle

Crystal's Crop Circle

The first assignment was a pierced medallion. Crystal comes to class with a photograph of an elaborate crop circle in England. She asks if she can use that as her medallion.

I was a little concerned about the amount of detailed cutting that would be required for this first assignment, but she said she wanted to try it.

She used zinc as her metal. This photo was taken today after a month of her wearing it hanging from her ID lanyard. It's a little scuffed, but I wanted her to keep working on her band ring design, so I didn't have her polish it back up.

It was a neat idea to research crop circles as source of inspiration. It looks like good sawing.

As with all the work your students have been showing here, I'm impressed with the level of attainment. This one shows good control of the saw and a willingness to tackle a difficult task. For beginning students, your students are doing impressively well. I think that reflects some pretty darn good teaching. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing this with us!
