Nice!

Really nice forms going on there...good luck with the work....
I see it more organic...rusts, greens, blues. But your the artist. Paint it and if you don't like it just overlay it until you have what you want. Maybe the inside of the tubing should be vivid???? Keep us updated! SteelyJan

I'm liking what's going on

I'm liking what's going on with it now. why paint it? the rust really bring out the shadows of the shape. there is lots of texture going on.....just my two cents.

Hi Jason, I saw your

Hi Jason,
I saw your sculpture yesterday, and it was like when you see someone and say what a weirdo. You meet that someone, get to know him and become best friends! That`s what happened to me when I came back to your sculpture today. The more I see it the more I like it now. The viewer actitude plays a vital role as to how a work is perceived. The finish you give it may enhance your message, or not. All this is very subjective, right? In my view, the first two options that come to mind are: a) all rusty finish and b) all rusty except the two curved portions which could be ground shiny with a lacquer protection.Within this second option, I`d leave the top (head???) rusty too. Nevertheless, as you try different ways, you`ll find the one that fits you best, regardless of what we might have suggested. Please post once you finish. Nelson.

funny you should say that

hey nelson i let this thing sit half finished in my basement for half a year before adding that second curve and the square at the top. my missus talked me out of doing more so i left it alone for the night to give it a fresh look the next day. i shot this picture when i went out the next morning because i was so taken with it. as to the coloring i have decided to paint, just not decided how. if you'll look at the bottom you'll notice that someone got a little grinder happy making all sorts of cute wiggly lines. i had done this on another piece i was working on and decided to copy it. now i don't like it. i think i am going to try your two tone idea, i just haven't picked the colors yet. once it's primed and all one color i'll post a new pic.

Jason, Great ! I`ve found

Jason,
Great ! I`ve found out that just trying even seemingly wild techniques, may yield surprises. Daring to try new strokes has not being easy to me, but it`s amazing all one can discover simply trying new ways, and always paying attention to fine details. At times, I`m so sure the way I have a set idea in mind, only to discover more pleasing shapes, textures, colors, concepts, than I could have conceived... art is wonderful. Try anything you please and catch those subtle details that easily flee away. I only know I know nothing, but always trying to learn something!
Cheers . nelson.
