400 dollar, 400 dollar, SOLD, to the highest bidder...

At the Cowboy Church/Riders on the Way, charity auction raising funds for our wounded troops, they sold my steal/copper/bronze & granite rock "Cross on the Mount" for $400.

They made a big deal introducing me, "the artist." ... Eat your heart out Rufino!

Congratulations JR! Wish I could see a detail of the texture on the cross. I'm intrigued with this texture. Care to share your technique and maybe a detail photo?

Thanks guys &

Thanks guys & gals,

Unfortunately, I didn't take any close ups... I really didn't think much of it when I was making it. It was just a weekend project. Started with 1/4" x 1" bar, welded a cross, welded thick globs of weld beads on top, then brazed copper and bronze in the valleys. I found the rock on the side of the road at the California/Arizona border. By the way, it weighs 35 pounds!

I'm just very happy that the money went to a good cause!

Paula, I haven't done anything all summer. Too hot in my Houston shed; and I've been very busy with my real estate. I can't wait until it cools down, and my business gets back on cruise control. Thanks for asking...
