Back again

Back again

Well, folks, I'm back after a long hiatus. Not really an intentional absence, just overwhelmed with my first show (of which I sold nothing…). I guess I felt I didn't really have time to comment and appreciate all the wonderful postings all my friends have been sharing. Please forgive me, you all have been very much in my thoughts, especially during this season and economic climate. I hope all of you, my friends, are doing well with a warm roof and a loving companion (what else do we really need?). Here is a posting of what I have been up to (a king sized bed). Also, I have my website up now. www.vinewoodsforge.com

Hi Rob,
welcome back! In regards to gallery events, well, we know how they work...needless to comment. Let`s take them as a learning experience. Anyhow, I checked your site and the stuff shown is very, very nice man. The vine bed is simply gorgeous. Those natural vines over the head board look beautiful, but your black forged vines an leaves are superior. The vine lamp, and all those elements where you combined wood and copper, or iron just look great. I love working with mixed media, and find your style so familiar and inspiring. Actually, my small business name is Iron & Wood. Those pots are something else too. Since you`ve been absent for so long, I hope you make up posting more of your great work. Good come back. nelson.

Hi Janet!
It looks as though you have been selling some stuff lately. Congratulations! Susan asks me frequently if I have heard from you and we would both like to take a road trip up north to see your gallery. I guess you are buried under the snow from yesterday (am I hearing a chuckle in the background from Paula and Frank?). Anyway, you and Walter are always welcome to come for a visit (and we owe you both at least one wonderful dinner…).

Hi Nelson! Thanks for your comments! I really missed you and all the other folks here. My wife points out that I don't "multi-task" well (i.e., running and yelling is a challenge), so I really had to focus on my futile show. It is nice to be back and see some of the wonderful postings again!

Rob
Hi Mele!
How have things been for you lately? Have you been doing your wonderful garden pieces? Thanks so much for your comments about the bed. This was a (year late) year long birthday present for my wife. I know from the picture it looks like a dog bed (not too far from the truth). However, when you have two dogs, you really need a king sized bed to accommodate everyone.

Yes I still am. I did my first festival with my outside stuff and did pretty well. I am doing some inside stuff now, you can search "dogwood" and see the most recent. I looked at the web site and it is great. It's a beautiful transformation from horseshoes.

Good to have you back, Rob

Hi Rob,
Welcome back brother.I think those "shows" have a tendency to age us. Hopefully we develop those esters like a fine wine and not become vinegar.Whatever happened to you sure didn't thwart your craftsmanship and creativity, the bed is lovely.

Hi Frank!
I was just standing in front of the mirror, practicing the phrase "Would you like fries with that?" in preparation for the big job interview when I got your email. Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I'll hold off on the career change for the time being. I am anxious to go through the back posts to see what you have been up to. I am really interested in finding out what has happened to the Eagle.

Hi Rob
Visited your web site. Those are some wicked nice pots. With the other stuff, I like the blending you've done with vines and iron/copper. Very organic feeling, especially the pot rack.

Hi Gerald! Great to hear

Hi Gerald!
Great to hear from you. It has been fun working with the vines. I usually feel, however, like I'm cheating. Working with the vines is kind of like "paint by numbers" for metal art. You just clean them up and dry them. Their individual shape dictates what they become without a whole lot of input from me. I could get kind of lazy that way.
I'm really glad you liked my work on the website. It is great getting your level of professional feedback!

Hi Paula!
Thanks for your compliments! I think of you and your work often when we are out with the dogs. I often see pine branches and vines that remind me of the wonderful pieces you have done with the amazing birds you have made.

Well Hello Rob, I was wondering where you had been. Nice to have you back. Your bed looks amazing. Really nice work. I too like the use of wood and metal together and the natural vines are just frosting on the cake. I am also working on a bed for myself, but it's not even going to come close to being as cool as this. Your wife must be thrilled. The website looks great, congratulations. Love the pots.
