Very nice work! I think I would have liked penny feet rather than the scrolls, but I like the overall piece a lot.

Thanks Rich. I would have liked penny feet also. I just can't swing that hard right now. I'm going to try and get some Japanese Brown on it tomorrow or Wednesday, I feel pretty beat up right now

I'm really sorry Rick, when I made that comment about the feet I was completely forgetting your accident and injuries. I'm frankly amazed that you could do as much as you did this soon. Good for you!

Keep working at it and it will all come back, but it definitely takes time and care. Just don't overdo it and end up undoing your progress so far. Best of luck with it!

No Worries Rich I had to cut

No Worries Rich

I had to cut back to a 18oz hammer from a 3lb. I can handle a 24oz. for about 5 minutes of intermittent use. I guess I need to start planning for a power hammer.

This is a really nice piece. I was hoping it wasn't going to stay that color. What are penny feet? Post again after the patina.

OK now I have it, thanks. I like the penny feet but they are kind of what you would expect to see done. I think the scrolls are more organic.
Thanks, Mele

Hi Rick, Good to see you see

Hi Rick,
Good to see you see your back in the shop, after the truck misshap. Those leaves look neat. I`d love to have a close up to appreciate shape and texture better. Those feet in my opininion too, would appreciate a change to anything, but your easel should indeed inspire the painter. nelson.

Back at it

Rick glad to see that you are back at it. I think you did an excellent job and give you credit for going out and getting something done. You know the oak leaves and acorns I almost did a piece a while back like that, and oak trees are a sign of longivity and putting oak leaves and acorns as things gives that sign.

Journey to Health

Hi Rick,
First and foremost, it is great that you are recovering from your accident! I do like that easel. It should be great for displaying some flat art, but it is beautiful in of itself.Being able to beat the living shit out of some steel again is a sure sign of recovery,eh?

Nice work on the easel rick.

Nice work on the easel rick. I like the texture on the leaves a lot. What kind of finish were you considering? I'm glad your recovery has gone well enough for you to get back into the shop. Frank is right, being able to beat on something is therapy in itself.

First, thanks Everyone for

First, thanks Everyone for the kind replies and well wishes.

I hope to put a Japanese Brown on it and scotch bright some highlights. If the weather is right and I feel up to it, I'll start on it tomorrow. I got a shot in the back on that nerve today and the last thing one my mind is doing it today.

I want to make a few more, one tall one for my Daughters engagement picture. I think if a few galleries see the tall one, I might have a few more to do. :)

We are hoping to get a cabin started this spring at the shop and have real running water and a flush toilet!!!!!!!!! 4 miles to the nearest C Store. That a LLLOOONNNGGG way some days.

Maybe then I can clean up enough to have a shop meet (and meat on the BBQ) and beat.

Hi Rick, Sure glad to see

Hi Rick,
Sure glad to see your on the mend, welcome back!
I'm not an Easel expert, but I do like this peice.
I'm pretty sure I could not have done it with two Healthy Arms.
Kudos to you for getting back into it, it shows a lot of passion and Charachter.
By the way I like the acorns it gives that little extra to the peice, rather just the Leaves.

Take Care

Chuck
