Freestanding Fireplace Screen (front view)

This fireplace screen was custom made for a client in New Zeland. I used copper, brass, and hand forged steel to create the natural colors. Patinas were used on the cattails. The brass decorations were soldered to the steel parts. The main reason for creating the freestanding screen vs. an insert was so the client could take it with him after moving from his home. It also simplified any installation efforts due to the fact that I live in the US. The screen is approximately three feet high by five feet wide.

Beautiful

Hi QuiQue,
I can see why the owner would want to take the screen with him, its beautiful. If it was mine, I would insure it separately too.

WOW! This is a nice piece.

WOW!

This is a nice piece. It must have taken some time to build.

I had worked a short while with a blacksmith, and we made Fire screens in his shop, but not anything this ornate. Although, I was in training, so this would not be a project for the beginner. I enjoyed the process of creating them, but hated the measuring part!!!! He was working with designers so we had to be very specific to the fireplaces we were making the screens for.

Anyway, your work is amazing!

Cheers,

Jamie Santellano
