Furniture Gallery Wayne Henderson with his sculptural three dimensional wrought iron table made during the "Creative Metalsmithing" Hands on workshop at E. Vega Studios. See http://enrique.artmetal.com/metal_art/Creative_Metalsmithing_01_Workshop.html for a photo album of the workshop. You're right in saying that

You're right in saying that Wayne's table is totally different. I have to say that it was not easy communicating with him on his design because it was three dimensional and curvilinear. Wayne did a very good job though getting this sculptural form to fit into a functional form. Seems that when our designs leave the two dimensional plane, it is very hard to adequately dimensionalize or visualize the completed form. Wayne likes to push the envelope. He actually coined the term RDC (rapid design change) and used RDC's throughout his project. I'd also like to mention that he is an accomplished artist in the computer multi media field and I have to say that in no way is he a beginner in metalworking. What was really nice is that none of the students were beginners. They all came with some knowledge of metalworking. » reply I love this table -- there

I love this table -- there is a lightness about it that is different than the typical metal table and in keeping with the delicateness of the butterfly top. The legs are fluid and sensual -- remind me a little of dancer's legs and I like how they balance on points at the bottom of the legs. Wish we could see more detail. L » reply |

Very different....
Wayne's table is totally different....I'm not quite sure it flows nicely, maybe it's the photo...Still quite an accomplishment for a beginner. Janet R.
( I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion on your student's tables.) I think we all have different likes and dislikes and it may be good to get our different views.
