Paula, how did you create the layering? Are the vines welded in place on the trunk or just wrapped?

i used pipe as the base,

i used pipe as the base, forged down in size going up the tree. then used random pieces of round and square stock, mild steel, and forged them to points on both ends. then, welded them to the base (pipe) forming them up the tree with oxy/acetylene torch as i went. welded, then grind the welds to blend them into the tree.....
