I don't have a way to heat

I don't have a way to heat yet. I am working on getting a small forge and all my hammering will have to be by hand. I would love to watch things like this being made. It's hard to teach yourself EVERYTHING.
I do have a fireplace and it is yearning for this set!! I look at it every time I log on.
Thanks, Mele

How?

Again, great looking ironwork. Would you have time to describe how you got the very cool looking, twisted, wind carved truck?

Would love a forest of these trees!

Your tree is exquisite Paula. I would love a to see a small forest of them as an installation.Very mythical! janet R.

more work

I'm sure i took the LONG way around to make this piece. I started with a 2" pipe and slowly drew it down to a point. Slow so as not to collapse the pipe. Then forged a lot of scrap pieces i had laying around, heating then hammering them very randomly in our 50# little giant. Made lots of them. Some larger for the base of the trunk and then smaller for the top of the tree. then i proceeded to weld them on the pipe, using an acetylene torch to heat the pieces to wrap the pipe as i went... then grind down the welds... die grinder as well as a hand grinder.... everything is tweaked as i go with the torch.... hows that??? get the idea?...lots of work, but i liked the result...i'll do it different next time.... dah-ahr!!! got it Bill! ThanksOh Duh: dah-ahr!!! got it Bill! Thanks

Paula- I'm sure this is

Paula-
I'm sure this is something you have thought of already, but a year or so ago I was doing a project where I was tapering copper and steel pipe. I designed a spring tool that fit in my 110# air hammer and allowed me to gradually taper pipe without collapsing it. Seemed to work quite well. If you are interested I'll be happy to post a picture.
