Beautiful

Paula it's beautiful. I love the use of metals, the way the leg on the left bends slightly at the top. Exactly how a real tree would. It's really nice. Please do tell how you did?

bending trees

I'm not sure how to reply to that question... after seeing such nice things on this website....... To bend the 'branches' i used an acetylene torch to heat the steel... that's it... and 'eye-balled' it ......

How did you join the Copper?

Turned out very nice. How did you join the copper leaves to steel? I would love to work with copper but am very, very inexperienced and was wondering how you joined them. What type of rod was used, if welded?
By the way your website is great. The gate with lizard and frogs is inspiring, and one of the nicest pieces I have ever seen.

reply

The copper was joined by brazing the two metals together, using an acetylene torch. Copper is a lot of fun, and forgiving. It has a tendency to become 'work hardened', so needs to be reheated to soften it. If given a chance, you should try it.

Thanks for your compliments!! I'm fairly new at this as well, since 2001... but I'm having lots of fun!!!
