Both Sunflower Pieces

here's the two pieces together. I'm so happy . Had some last minute trouble with the glass insets. they were too tight and we had to "carefully" grind them on the belt sander. thank goodness it got done since I have to deliver them tomorrow night.Phew!!!! ther's always a last minute something or other.... WOW Janet! I have been gone

WOW Janet!
I have been gone from Artmetal for about 2 weeks teaching but I'm back, these are just as great as I knew they would be. The flow is so easy. Again you always have such great design. Do you know the flow of the piece before you start making it or do you just have the general idea? Do you make the curves and movement of the piece as you go or do you have that drawn out ahead of time? I really like these. The bad thing about Atrmetal is that I want to touch things, I wish I could touch these.

Hi Janet: Looking at your

Hi Janet:
Looking at your sunflowers, I thought about a type of work I always wanted to do, but never could, due to lack of knowledge or something. I love the mix media potential in sculpture. Knowing how to mix materials harmoniously is tricky. Always wanted to work with glass and metal but didn`t like the idea of falling into the stainglass flatness stuff kind of thing. If I was to use glass,it would have to bend along with the metal that accompanies it to really be different.Gotta be a way of bending glass.Of course that`s another experty. So much to learn and so littlte...This is just something that may be interesting. I do like your work!,but for selling sometimes don`t wanna put to much time for one doesn`t always get the profit for it!The droopy sunflower ads naturalityto it. NICE! Nelson.

Janet, Amazing, they look

Janet,

Amazing, they look like they were fun projects. I have an obsession with subflowers. I am actually working on planting 5 acres of sunlowers by my shop.(hoping to heat my shop with the seeds) Have you ever seen a field of sunflowers? To me it is breath taking. The craziest thing about them is the fact that the blossom rotates throught the day following the sun. I will post photos of my field when it is planted and hopefully lapsed pictures as well so you can see them trac the sun. I am planning a series of sunflower inspired furniture and wall hangings. Not sure what material yet or finish, just have sketches. Thank you for sharing.
