Janet R's Bench

I was just looking at Rich's bench which we all loved. Beautiful application. Here's a bench ( one of a pair ) I did for some clients last year. They have a beach house and needed a shoe rack also. I had no source for the wood but knew I wanted something organic. After much internet searching, I ended up finding someone by my upstate studio. The wood is simply a pine slab. I think it worked out well.

Hi Janet,
We are experiencing white outs with high winds. Our art show has been canceled.This is actually a relief, as driving in this stuff is treacherous.I will now enjoy the storm ,take a walk and watch the Ravens dance in the wind.Our community is starting an artist guild and we had our first meeting last night, I'm pumped.

Hope they reschedule your show

Sorry to hear your show has been canceled, but it's for the better. People won't inconvience themselves. Hope that it has been rescheduled. Gives you more time. It's great to have an art group you can be part of. When I moved my studio upstate I thought I would be removed. Turns out all these artists moved either their home or studio to Sullivan county and thus an art group was formed and is becoming quite active. I'm enjoying being a part of it. Good Luck. Janet R.

After seeing Rich's, and your bench, I agree with Frank... "I love the blend of media." This is an example of how artmetal.com gives me insights. I'm contemplating making a bench of wood and metal. Since I don't forge, I'll need to be especially creative in the design. Wish me luck!

Thanks for responding. I haven't done any forging yet. ( but now that I've seen some of Enrique's videos, I want to ) There's so much you can do with welding and mixing materials. It's all up to your vision. Keep us posted. Janet R.

Great piece! I think very few people can get the robust character of their work artistically that you always seem to pull off so well. The pine top really adds to the feel. Congratulations!
