morph table 1

morph table 1

Here are a few coffee tables I created over the past year or so. I called it the morph series. The starting point was based on "synergy", the idea of a number of small elements that when put together become stronger than sum of all of the pieces. I'm not sure if this actually ended up to be true in my tables, but but it was the starting point of the design process. I named the series morph because it seemed that with one type of element, I could create any shape or volume. It kind of became a challenge. I would think of a shape and then see if I could create it. I've only built coffee tables and small sculptures so far, but I'm in the design phase of trying to build a dining table.

Lovely table!

I think the idea of synergy is really intersting - and your table base has a really kinetic feel to it that I like. I'd love to see some more of the tables....

Thanks

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, I just got back into town. I agree with you about the kinetic feel. As I look at them they almost seem to undulate, which is cool. These are all of the tables that I've done so far, but I hope to put another one together in the next few months. I'll post some picts as I start build it.
