Thank you. Flowers are steel candy.

Hey Frank, love the iris, especially the base. The bend in the leaves is a great touch. Lin

Inspiration

Hi Lin,
Gotta admit, your web site was the biggest inspiration. Thank you. I welded all the stem leaves on and then bent them. I'm not sure that was the best way, but it turned out ok. I pre-bent the leaves for the stand and fitted pairs together.

Wow, Thanks Frank for the comment about the website. I am a total novice at web design, but a client insisted I needed one, so I did it. I need to update it, but keep putting it off. I also need to figure out how to link it to search engines. Lin

Frank, nice flowers, good

Frank, nice flowers, good flow on the leaves, I am still not a fan of rod iron, but you have to use what you got.

I agree, good flow on the irises Frank.
I think the rebar tends to take a little away rather than add to the piece, but it's a minor detail.
The flowers look very realistic. Congratulations on a nice composition...
So,are you going to have this outside and let it rust?I hope not.Let this be an indoor piece and make the next one in non ferrous metals for installation outside. If you can do this in steel, you can do it in bronze and stainless, which can be welded directly to each other.
Just my two cents...
Good work !

Stainless

Hi Stephan,
This sculpture is indoor. The leaves connect to the stem like cones and would collect water. Thanks for the encouraging nudge toward stainless. I hear you brother. There's this discarded stainless steel sink I've been itching to butcher...

Irony

Hi Warren,
I just got back from my son's wedding.I gave the new couple the wedding roses. They were well excepted. I had a great time.
I do understand the apparent short comings of re-bar in this application. Everything else has a more or less realistic surface, while the re-bar stems have those out of character ridges.
I consider this "flaw" one of the brush strokes or facets of this sculpture. The odd surface goes in and out of play as the viewing distance changes because of the scale of the flower.
A macroscopic view of the real flower would be much more startling.Huh?

Lovely

Really like your Irises Frank, very natural flow to them. Saw a pair of buzzards sawing over the planes the other day, thought of you and your wonderful birds.

Hi Andy and Michelle,

Hi Andy and Michelle,
Thank you. I was in Detroit area for my son's wedding and was overwhelmed by the intensity of people and their effect. Nothing natural seems to remain. But in the sky, the Hawks and Buzzards and even some Ravens could be seen from time to time. I was so thankful.
