I don't get on very much so

I don't get on very much so I miss a lot but I sure am glad I didn't miss this!! It's great, how big is the fan you used to blow his mane back. It is so fluid and graceful, you don't even think rebar. It's just fantastic.

I always love your work, Mele

Hi Mele, Thanks,eh.

Hi Mele,
Thanks,eh. Wow,its good to see a post by ya'll. Howz be you?
Try welding with that fan going!
I'm very pleased how the horse head turned out.The stand is a bust, however.
Need to make a redesigned stand.
This Thursday, I'm giving a metal shaping class to around a dozen 4H club kids and hopefully over six adults. It'll be some noisy fun.
After that, its stand building time.
Peace,eh
Frank

Hi Frank!
I think this is a beautiful piece. Something I notice that is characteristic of your work is the wonderful flow and organic nature of it. This is no exception. Having spent most of my life with horses, this has a special place in my heart!
I also like the stand. Perhaps not with this piece, but definitely a keeper. I somehow see this stand filled with brightly colored glass balls.

Thank You Very Much

Hi Rob,
Thank you very much. I actually made a sculpture similar to the main part of the stand and it was filled with river rock. That's not colored glass balls but similar in a way.

bust vs. base

I enjoy the organic live movement in the bust. However the stark difference in styles of design in the base, mathematical, helical, rhythmical: struggles against the free robust horse design and holds it down. Perhaps bring some of that mane to the side to create "contrapposto" and give the bust it's own sense of movement?
