Hi Frank, I`ve already

Hi Frank, I`ve already commented on your nice eagle, but there`s something striking on your pics: that forest. Do you live near it? If you do, what a wonderfull site man! I truly envy you... Nelson.

Back Yard

Hi Nelson,
That is my back yard. I live in the Hiawatha National Forest. Sometimes I yearn for a bigger opening in the forest canopy, so I can see the stars better, but I get over it.I got married in Detroit in 1976, came up here in a school bus with the seats removed, and never looked back.

Their getting bigger....

Hi Frank.....glad to see you taking your eagles to soaring proportions....Can't wait to see the progress. Will it stay linear or will you complete it with feathers + all???
Steelyjan

Frank Castiglione's picture

Linear

Hi SteelyJan,
Fifty feet away and the bird disappears despite its size. This made me consider filling in between the lines to restore its graphic presence. That would have destroyed my efforts for minimalism though. So it will remain a re-rod sketch.I've studied every image you,and others have shared and learned quite a bit concerning balance of space and proportion, then try to apply it in three dimensions. Sometimes I succeed, other times clutter shows up. With this exercise, the old adage, less is more seems relevant.

Freestyle

Hi Mele,
Thanks for the fluid compliment, it opened new streams in my mind.It really did!

Nice budgie Frank! Lighting

Nice budgie Frank!

Lighting it from below would make it really stand out at night. Making it out of polished stainless steel and lighting it would be amazing.

Great work.

Lights...Action

Hi Peter,
Thanks. Someday I need to move up to stainless steel. Your right, lighting would certainly make it show up, especially if it was all shiny.

Feet

Hi Peggy,
Thank you. I actually violated the theme a bit with the feet. I put too much detail in the claws.I couldn't resist.

Hey Frank, I like the effect

Hey Frank,
I like the effect of the eagle disappearing at certain distance. Lives up to its name and gives it a sense of spirituality so to speak.Personally, and I hope you don`t mind, I`d like to try a sculpture that would have that effect in my backyard... sort of a soaring soul. nelson

Change

Hi Nelson,
Your latest sculptures do change with perspective. That has always fascinated me when I see something that looks different as your position, or perspective changes. If you do make one that disappears with some distance, it would be a natural progression.

Fine Feet

I think the detail with which you did the feet really stands out as one of the finer points of this piece. It draws me to it, and I like what I see.
I think one of the reasons I like the feet so much is because they look so real. The re-rod really does the trick for a birds' feet, and you did a fine job with it.
As for the eagle disappearing with distance, they do that.

Eagle Feet

Hi Rick,
Thanks. I'm contemplating a sculpture based on eagle feet. It should be a real table top scratcher.
