Bird Tail

I attached the tail on Bird today and finished applying spoons to the back side. Some the welds will be covered with spoons, the rest are "brush strokes"

Your bird is fricken cool!!!
Maybe you can forge some feet for it. A eagle that size would have big feet and long sharp talons.

Claws

Thanks. The forged feet is a wonderful idea. I have no blacksmith skills however. Maybe some day.I contacted a local blacksmith and he wants to teach me though.

Can you heat and form some of the utensils for the feet and legs? If you've been using nothing but utensils, could you just keep going with that theme? Hey, you're the artist!!

Rust y Feet

Hi Paula,
I honestly don't know. I'm down to doing the claws, so I'll experiment. I have a feeling that I will resort to mild steel and maybe wrap this with copper wire. Stainless would be best though.Fork prongs might make good talons.

Not a bad idea.
As Paula suggested, I tried to manipulate some handles into feet.I laminated three handles together, but they're still too skinny.I'll add some more. Gotta get a fire going in the shop stove first, its cold here today.

Coming Together

Thanks. I was rather surprised how well some things worked out. Not all of it though. I think I created a few new words making that beak. I had just the right spoons and the buggers were of some kind of zinc alloy,Poof!I'm struggling with the claws right now.

Worked well

Yeah sometimes you just have to stand back and take a look and see what happens, and you look down on the bench and it is all laid out for you. Have fun making the claws. I made an eagle a few years back and I loved every minute of it, all 450 plus feathers.
