Motorcycle chain bowl

A small project I did last year, its forge welded motorcycle chain that is then shaped into a bowl.
A nice little stand to hold it up, and finished it off with a Copper patina.

Hi Chris,
I like your bowl a lot. Did you use a press or hammer it? And probably used flux to forgeweld it flat first? Sorry if it sounds dumb, but I`m very ignorant in that respect. Nevertheless, I should try some forge welding, seems very interesting... Nelson.

I start out just making a circle of the motorcycle chain, its mig welded at the very end to keep it from uncoiling. Next placed in the forge and then loaded with flux when it hits cherry in color and lastly hammered up with my power hammer. Its hammered flat at a welding heat and then shaped into the shape of a bowl last using a swage block. Really not difficult as long as your forge can get to welding heat, I used a home made propane forge.
