Vine gates

Vine gates

Just hung my first set of gates made solely by myself without any help from andy!! I'm really pleased with myself, they are hung locally and I smile every time I see them. My best bit is the symetry of the main stem. Ive only been doing metalwwork for about a year now having given up nursing to be more creative. Not bad for Middle aged nurse! The customer was really pleased. Shame about the mesh though I think they looked better without, but I suppose you have to compromise when someone else is paying. I'm so pleased I took the leap, different type of mid life crisis eh!

Hi Michelle! Terrific gates!

Hi Michelle!
Terrific gates! They look fabulous. With or without the mesh, they are great- congratulations! Also, congratulations on your "mid-life career change". I am going through something similar. You clearly have the talent for this, so I am sure you will do very well (and be happier, which is most important!).

What a nice way to secure an opening

Michelle:
I don't think the mesh interferes with the composition at all. The symmetrical traillage is elegant and subdued. The owners probably wanted the black for maintenance ease, but I hope they will think about allowing the vines to take on a more realistic appearance at a later time. Very nice work for one with only a year's experience. Congratulations on the new baby!

Michelle,
I really like the gates. I am a big fan of organic metalwork as everyone knows. These are great. Keep up the beautiful work!

thank you

Thanks for all your support. I think i;m very lucky to have Andy 1-1, he doesn't get fed if he won't help me! Ive learnt so much, and in doing so realise ive got so much more to learn. Much more satisfied in life now. Never worked so hard, never been so broke, never been so happy! Fortunately the broke situation is easing now. My advice to anyone is to go for it.
