Sometimes even after sketches have been approved,it's helpful to set up the frame so the client can get the reality of ones vision. That's what I did in this case. It also helped the other folks involved in the project(masons,landscapers,painters etc.)see exactly what was intended to finish off this "Kelp"railing,and tie it in with my previous work.
For me the most significant design aspect of this key piece was to take the energy and direction of the cap rail and somehow give it a graceful ending...Diving it into the ground with a twist seemed to work...The greater challenge was because the post and rail were of such differing dimensions.
