"Tuscan Castle"exterior

This is an outside view of the Tuscan Castle featuring 350ft. of exterior curved balcony railings fabricated in 10ft.sections which bolt together.. Each scroll is forged of 3/4 solid steel round stock with a bi-symmetrical repeating pattern. Meets code. Powder coated.
Configuring this repeating shape(scroll) on flat and level decks to accommodate the 4" rule(code) is one thing ,but trying to build it into a diagonal stairway that curves as it goes up was quite another thing altogether. (stairway on the right in this picture)Also these solid 3/4 bar scrolls were quite heavy so I couldn't make sections longer than 10ft or I wouldn't be able to handle them in my studio without help.
Just giving you these notes to convey the degree of difficulty and the amount of necessary engineering that takes place in order for a fabrication like this to appear seamless and FLOW from one end to the other without arresting the eye...One good thing for me about these exterior rails was that they were going to be powder coated, which requires a complete and total sand blasting. Because of that fact ,it meant I didn't have to clean my welds and the rest of the rail as stringently as I would have had to otherwise...
This is a 10,000 square foot "house". There was 350 ft.of exterior railings and 250 ft. of free form Art Nouveau interior railings. It took me a year.
