Copper Crenellated Sink

I produce a line of handmade sinks in copper ,bronze,or stainless steel. I use an 85 ton press to form these and no two are alike. Seen here is the SURFACE MOUNT configuration, but I also make them in a FLUSH MOUNT configuration to be cast in a concrete vanity made by my partners at www.bohemianstoneworks.com

You do beautiful work Stephen.

I was just looking at your sinks and railings. I think "Fabulous" would be a good discription of what you do.

I do think that you might want to rethink your idea about the money part. (Speaking of the sconce for a restaurant.) I'm kind of new in this metal art business, but I am not new in business. As a professional photographer I never left my studio until at least half of the agreed upon price was paid. No exceptions. With your experience, talent and your portfolio of past work, you shouldn't have to prove anything to anyone.

How do you clean up your copper so well? Doesn't it get scratched up and turn color when you are working with it? It is just beautiful when you are done with it.

Keep up the good work.
Dick

Yes dick,I have learned these lessons about money overtime.
But I have never lost sight of the true reason I do this kind of work, namely the love of BEAUTY. So in my estimation it is phenomenal that I have somehow arranged my affairs in life to ACTUALLY GET PAID to do what I love to do,since I would if pressed ,actually PAY for the privilege myself. I was trained by a very difficult task master(my father) who was rarely satisfied with my work until only late in his life. But he was an incredible teacher and imbued me with a strong work ethic. He trained me to get my kicks from the ACT of CREATION, rather than from the result of that creation. This way I have always focused on the PROCESS as my raison d'etre instead of on the money which in essence is just icing on the cake. By creating the discipline in my life at an early age to disregard the artificial lure and fantasy of fame and fortune,I have been able to focus on what is truly important ,making the very best work I am capable of.
The sconce for the restaurant was not a waste you see. I DESIRED to manifest it with all of my being, and the potential client showed up at the precise moment to initiate the act. but in truth they were just an excuse to get me going...
I thank you for your kind compliments.

Dick,
In regards to keeping copper clean.yes it DOES take some maintenance. I educate the clients about this and let them decide if they really want a sink in this material or not. Most often they just let it go with the naturally occurring patina or have a housemaid maintain the polish once a month...
Car wax helps to keep it looking good but even that will break through eventually. I've found Johnson's floor wax is sufficient to maintain the look.
I do constantly upgrade my maintenance suggestions when I discover new products and tools that make this ongoing problem easier.
