Railing Commission Finally taking shape

Railing Commission Finally taking shape

Hi ArtMetalists!

I guess I haven't been on for a while. I received a commission this spring for 10 sections of railings for dear friends. I started in the early part of the summer, but then
left for Croatia for a month, came back to a commitment of designing and building the sculptural towers to hold the WTC I-Beam for the town memorial park, etc....
Without a forge some of my designs were giving me difficulty...one mid-section of my 11ft. balcony in particular. Then just wasn't happy with the overall design...
Now finally it's getting resolved. Thank goodness my friends have been patient. The balcony is near completion. The next 7ft. stair section will be another challenge but after that the other pieces are smaller and more manageable.
I have decided on a combination of patina and natural steel. Almost as if the piece were highlighted. The new gel patina by Birchwood Casey, although expensive is a dream to work with. I thank those on this site for turning me onto that company. Here's the mid-section with the problematic bend... Hope you like it!
